0.61 Released!

Hi everyone,

It's not been long since the release of 0.6 but I've already got an update which does add a surprisingly large amount of features/mechanics to the game, even though it's not been given a fancy version number like 0.7.

This update is already uploaded and can be downloaded now!

See below for a list of things that have been either added or changed :)

Game Additions

These are the new additions to the game:

  • Autosaves - After you've manually saved the game the first time (so the game knows which file to save to), it will automatically save itself at various points throughout your journey. You can still manually save whenever you'd like though via the menu.
  • Message Speed Option - You can now configure the message speed in the game, allowing you to change how fast text is displayed in dialogue.
  • New Skills - Party members now have some powerful new skills that can be learned!
  • Equipment Durability - Your weapons and armour now have durability meaning that as they're used, their condition will slowly degrade. Equipment can be repaired using repair kits purchased from blacksmiths but, make sure your equipment's durability doesn't reach 0 otherwise it will break!
  • Job Points and Skill Learning - As you defeat monster and/or level up, you will gain JP, or Job Points. These points can then be used by your party members to learn new skills (some skills are still learned from leveling up however). Some skills require you to be a certain level before they appear and others require you to know a specific skill before you can learn a more powerful one.
  • Skill Mastery - As you use your skills, the more experience you will have when using them. Use a skill enough times and it will level up. This is called Skill Mastery. Leveling up a skill various benefits such as reducing the amount of resources needed to use the skill or causing the skill to deal more damage.
  • Better Optimisation - In Memories, animated tiles (such as the moving water effects) can use a lot of your device's resources. Because of this, the game will now default to have the animated tiles, not animated. You can however, change this option in the menu. Computers on the other hand, will still have animated tiles enabled by default.

Game Changes

These are changes to the existing functionality of the game:

  • Changed the level at which skills are learned.
  • Improved Help - The game now has a more comprehensive guide to the game, providing you with information on existing and new mechanics. This guide can be accessed via the Key Items menu in your Inventory.
  • Menu Look and Feel - I've changed various aspects of the menu to make it easier to view and navigate.
    • The left side of the menu has been expanded to show all game options rather than only some of them.
    • The main part of the menu (that shows the party and their stats) has been expanded slightly to make it look nicer.
    • Items > Inventory - "Items" has now been renamed to "Inventory".
    • Skills During Battle - The "Skills" menu during battle has been expanded to show more skills on-screen at once.
  • Various bug fixes
  • Minor changes to skill stats
  • Updated the Credits from the title screen to ensure all the relevant people receive credit where credit is due!

I'm still working on getting some more side-quests in the game but currently have some writer's block so having trouble thinking of some new quests and I didn't want that to hold up some of the new features I was excited to show you so decided to release this update.

I've got some other things planned as well such as a (hopefully) revamped icon set which should make the game look a bit more unique!

Anywho, I've babbled on enough. I hope you enjoy the update and be sure to stay tuned for further news and updates
